Frequently Asked Questions

How much is deducted if I cancel a confirmed ticket more than 72 hours before departure?
More than 72 hours before departure: Flat charge of ₹240 (1A), ₹200 (2A/CC), ₹180 (3A), ₹120 (SL), ₹60 (2S) per passenger. This is the same flat charge as the old rules, but the window is now 72 hours instead of 48.
What if I cancel between 72 and 24 hours before departure?
25% of the fare is deducted as cancellation charges (subject to minimum flat rates of ₹240). Previously this window was 48-12 hours.
What is the cancellation charge within 24 hours of departure?
50% of the fare is deducted between 24 and 8 hours before departure. Less than 8 hours before departure: no refund. Previously the 50% window was 12-4 hours.
Can I cancel a Tatkal ticket?
No refund is given on cancellation of confirmed Tatkal tickets. This rule has not changed in the 2026 revision. For RAC/waitlisted Tatkal tickets, a refund is given after deducting ₹60 or ₹30 per passenger.
Do the new cancellation charges apply to all ticket types?
The new time windows (72h/24h/8h) apply to regular confirmed tickets. Tatkal confirmed tickets still have zero refund. Waitlisted tickets cancelled before chart preparation still receive a full refund minus nominal charges.
